Armor

In the cable industry, armor refers to a layer of protective material that is wrapped around the outer jacket of a cable to provide additional mechanical protection. Armor can be made from various materials, such as steel, aluminum, or copper, and is designed to protect the cable from physical damage, such as crushing, abrasion, or impact. Armored cables are commonly used in harsh environments, such as construction sites, mining operations, or oil and gas facilities, where the cables are exposed to rough handling or extreme conditions. The armor layer also provides protection against rodents and other animals that may chew through the outer jacket of the cable.
