Polyvinyl chloride is an amorphous thermoplastic. PVC is hard and brittle, white in colour and only becomes softer, malleable and suitable for technical applications by adding plasticizers and stabilizers. PVC is known for its use in floor coverings, window profiles, pipes, coloured cable sheaths and, until recently, for records.
